“HOW TO START
OVER”
When
Life Comes At You Fast – Part 4 of 7
Mark 14:70-72
7-19-2009
"Now
Peter got really nervous and swore, "I never laid eyes on this man you're
talking about. Just then the rooster crowed a second time. Peter remembered how
Jesus had said, "Before a rooster crows twice, you'll deny me three times." He
collapsed in tears."
Mark 14:71-72 (MES)
WHY
FAILURE HURTS SO BAD
1.
Because we have to face the reality that we are not perfect."...Your
deeds are far from right in the sight of God."
Rev 3:2 (TLB) "And
there is not a single man in all the earth who is always good
and never sins." Eccl
7:20 (TLB)2. Because we tend to think failing is the same thing as being
a failure.
"No... I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies
to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies
ahead,
I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God
is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us.” Phil
3:13-14 (TLB)
HOW TO DEFEAT
FAILURE AND START OVER
1. Trust
God and follow Him.
"Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him to help you do
it, and he will." Psalms 37:5 (TLB)
2. Learn
from your mistakes.
"Leave behind your foolishness and begin to live; learn how to
be wise." Prov 9:6 (TLB)
3. Forget
your failures and remember the faithfulness of God.
"And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a
while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't get
discouraged and give up." Gal 6:9 (TLB)

“Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in
the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds
to a resurrection
of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.”
John 5:28-29(NASB)
Since
you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights
on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God’s right hand in the place
of honor and power.” Col. 3:1 (NLT)
BASIC
TRUTHS ABOUT HEAVEN.
1.
It’s God’s Home.
“
A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most
High.” Psalm
46:4 (NLT)
2.
IT’S A REAL PLACE.
“Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not
destroy, and where thieves can’t break in and steal.”
Matt. 6:20 (NIV)
3. IT’S BEING PREPARED FOR YOU.
“ Come, you who are blessed by My Father, take your inheritance, the kingdom
prepared
for you since the creation of the world.”
Matt. 25:34 (NIV)
“…
they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one… God, …has
prepared a city for them.” Heb. 11:16 (NIV)
“
This is God’s purpose: that when the time is ripe he will gather us all
together from wherever we are – in heaven or on earth-to be with him in
Christ forever.” Eph. 1:10 (TLB)
“
For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our city
in heaven, which is yet to come.” Heb. 13:14 (NLT)
THE
PLACE CALLED HEAVEN
IS
OUT OF THIS WORLD!
“
God looked down from heaven on all people to see if anyone was
wise, if anyone was looking to God for help.” Psalm 53:2
(NCV)
A
DESCRIPTION OF HEAVEN
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has
prepared for those who love Him.”

THE
WAY TO GO TO HEAVEN
“
The Good News tells us that God makes us ready for heaven—makes us right
in God’s sight-when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us. This
is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scripture says it, ‘The
man who finds life will find it through trusting God.’ Rom. 1:17 (TLB)
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him should not Perish, but have Everlasting
Life.” John 3:16
(KJV)Have you ever asked the question, “What happens
after I die?” Really,
everybody wants to know the answer to that question.
“THE
TRUTH ABOUT HEAVEN”
The Truth About Two Resurrections – Part 3 of 3
Colossians 3:1
4-19-2009
“Our bodies are gradually dying, but we ourselves are being made
stronger each day. These little troubles are getting us ready
for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles
seem like nothing. Things that are seen
don't last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal. That's why we
keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen. Our
bodies are like tents that we
live in here on earth. But when these tents are destroyed, we know that God
will give each of us a place to live. These homes will
not be buildings that someone
has made, but they are in heaven and will last forever. These tents we now
live in are like a heavy burden, and we groan. But we
don't do this just because we
want to leave these bodies that will die. It is because we want to change them
for bodies that will never die. God is the one who makes all of this possible.
He has given us his Spirit to make us certain that he will do it. So always
be cheerful! As long as we are in these bodies, we are
away from the Lord. So we
live by faith, not by what we see… we would rather leave these bodies
and be at home with the Lord. But whether we are at home with the Lord or away
from
him, we still try our best to please him. After all, Christ will judge each
of us for the good or the bad that we do while living in these bodies.” 2

HOW
SHOULD I LIVE IF I’M GOING TO HEAVEN?
1.
Don’t
be sidetracked by evil desires.
“You are only visitors here on earth. Since your real home is in heaven,
keep away from the evil pleasures of this world; they are not for you, for they
fight against your very souls.” 1 Peter 2:11 (TLB)
“
If they had wanted to, they could have gone back to the good things
of this world. But they didn’t want to. They were living for
heaven. And now God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has
made a heavenly city for them.” Heb.
11:15-16 (TLB)
2.
Don’t be troubled by burdens.
“This is why we never give up.... These troubles and sufferings of ours
are, after all, quite small and won’t last very long. Yet this
short time of distress will result in God’s richest blessing
upon us forever and ever! So we do not look at what we can see right
now, the troubles all round us, but
we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen.
The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.” 2
Cor. 4:16-18 (TLB)
3.
Do live your life in light of eternity.
“Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying
about things down here.” Col. 3:2 (TLB)
“
I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven.
This is the prize that God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done.” Phil.
