Press Release... EXPANDED VENUE FOR 20TH ANNUAL HALLOWEEN BLOCK PARTY The Halloween Block Party reaches a milestone this year celebrating 20 years of Halloween treats and entertainment. The Halloween Block Party, coordinated by Mainstreet Cleveland, is set for Wednesday, October 31, beginning at 5 p.m. with an evening packed full of family fun. New for the 20th anniversary is an expanded venue. The ever-popular Treat Street sponsored by Mars Snackfood, US gets a new location on Church Street in front of the Police Services Center. “We are very excited about the expanded venue,” said Sharon Marr, executive director for MainStreet Cleveland. “There is such a great turnout for this event with an average attendance of more than 25,000 that it is time to expand. The opening of the new Police Services Center on Church Street made it a perfect fit for Treat Street.” Mars Snackfood, US sponsors Treat Street which is open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. “Mars Snackfood does a tremendous job with Treat Street and the Costume Contest.” Marr said. “They generously donate thousands of dollars in candy and countless volunteer hours to this event.” A full line-up of entertainment is planned on two stages. Entertainment begins at 6 p.m. on the Main Stage at the Courthouse Plaza. The evening opens with music by local band “The Boogie Men”. A double headliner begins at 7:30 p.m. with Davey Smith, Stone Creek Recording Artist- Country Music Singer/Songwriter, who just released his new album "Heartaches & Heroes..." Then one of the South’s most popular groups, “Terry Lee and the GT’s” takes the stage to finish the evening. The five-member show band is known for performing a variety of great hits from the past five decades. The Fun Stage at the Post Office Annex opens at 5:30 p.m. with the children’s costume contest sponsored by Mars Snackfood, US. Finalists in the “Galaxy Idol” karaoke contest take the stage at 7 p.m. The karaoke contest is sponsored by Galaxy Bowling and Alive 105. Qualifying rounds will take place during October with finalists performing at the Block Party. North Cleveland Church of God’s Sonshine Avenue completes the line-up with performances by Kidz Dominion Live at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. “We are pleased to offer an evening of great entertainment on two stages plus a variety of treats and activities for children,” said Jane Easterly, Block Party Committee Chairperson. Children
will also enjoy the DARE Midway that will be filled with air toys including
a
giant slide and obstacle course. The DARE Midway is
sponsored
by the Cleveland
Police Department and Bradley County Sheriff’s Department. “It takes many dedicated volunteers to put this event together,” said Marr. “We are very fortunate to have the support of so many community-minded businesses.
